It’s the middle of the week and my sense of time continues to feel more and more abstracted. A friend of mine once described the difference between being “on” time and being “in” time. To be on time is to adhere to a schedule and to prioritize things like punctuality. To be in time means one relates to time in a much looser way. I identify with the latter and tend to move at my own pace.
With that, I offer a tune to welcome the sun after a couple days of steady rain. Music is my marker…
It’s an incredible honor to announce I’ll be playing The Thousand Incarnations of the Rose coming up April 13-15. The festival takes place in Takoma Park, MD (hometown of John Fahey) and brings together rare appearances of luminaries such as Peter Lang, Harry Taussig, and Peter Walker alongside younger players expanding on the rich lineage of American primitive guitar. In addition to live music, there will also be panel discussions, previously unseen live footage of artists like the late great Jack Rose, and the D.C. premier of documentary Voice of the Eagle: The Enigma of Robbie Basho. To learn more about the festival and it’s inspiration, check out this excellent feature.
I hope you can make it to this very special event!

Finally go the chance to sit down and record this tune… I’ve been playing it out for a little while now and am happy to be able to share it with folks, near and far. I like to think of it as a companion to the material from my last album “Furniture Music”. Hope you enjoy it and happy Spring to you!
