Holding on to hope on this 4th of July

Revisiting this ditty recorded back in January, 2017 after attending the Women’s March in SF. Listening back, I am reminded of the hope that day inspired for me and countless others who chose to resist an administration that seeks to divide rather than bring together.

As many Americans celebrate their independence today, let’s remember all those systematically being denied the opportunity to make a life in this country… we can do better than this!

Hope this tune can bring a little brightness to your day and inspire you to keep pushing back against the insanity…

With love,

I wrote this sketch the day after going to the San Francisco’s women’s march, one of many that took place alongside the Women’s March on Washington January 21, 2017. Thousands upon thousands of people spanning every generation, nationality, gender, sexuality, and class came together to march in solidarity for equality, unity, and love. It was the largest demonstration simultaneously exercised around the globe on a single day in history. The experience inspired a deep sense of hope that I had not felt for a long while. This music is an attempt at capturing that feeling as it lingered.

Much love,

DPG
